Edgewater’s Kids Fishing Derby Reels in Record Turnout!

The City of Edgewater’s annual Kids Fishing Derby, proudly sponsored by Southern States Fishn’ & Huntn’ Magazine, saw over 200 young anglers hit the water this year — the largest turnout yet! From tying knots and baiting hooks to reeling in their first catches, families filled the shoreline with excitement, laughter, and plenty of fish stories to take home.

A big thanks goes out to the Halifax Sport Fishing Club for hosting the educational tables and teaching hands-on lessons in conservation, tackle setup, and fishing fundamentals. Their volunteers, alongside organizer Desiree Harbster, helped make the day both fun and educational for kids of all ages.
